Dr. Fabian Sandoval, CEO and Research Director, has over 25 years of bench to bedside research experience. His diversified research career has been in academia, healthcare systems and the public sector. Chiledum Ahaghotu, MD, is vice president of Medical Affairs for MedStar Southern Hospital Center, providing clinical leadership and oversight for quality and safety, medical education and research. Before joining MedStar, Dr. Ahaghotu was vice president and chief medical officer at Steward Carney Hospital, part of the Steward Health System in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to this position, Dr. Ahaghotu worked as an academic urologist at Howard University. During his 20-year tenure at Howard, Dr. Ahaghotu achieved the rank of full professor and served as the R. Frank Jones and Kline Price Sr. Endowed Professor and chair of Urology. He also served as the associate dean for Clinical Affairs in the College of Medicine, and as president of the Howard University Medical and Dental Staff. Dr Ahaghotu has also held leadership positions for the American Urologic Association, R. Frank Jones Urologic Society, National Medical Association, Washington Urologic Society, and Medical Society of the District of Columbia. Dr. Ahaghotu has completed more than 50 medical mission trips in West Africa. He also is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and reviewer for the Journal of Urology and Journal for Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities.

She began her public health career in 1998 as a member of the CDC’s elite Epidemic Intelligence Service. She has served as a foreign diplomat in the Caribbean, an academic researcher, and the former chief medical officer for the DC Medicaid program. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a member of the Institute of Medicine/ National Academy of Sciences Roundtable on Health Literacy and an Aspen Institute Health Innovator Fellow. Sara Horton, MD, a board-certified medical oncologist, currently holds the position of executive director of access and diversity at Quantum Leap Healthcare, a non-profit organization devoted to supporting breast cancer clinical trials. In addition, she holds an affiliate associate professorship at Howard University Cancer Center and serves as a medical oncologist for the Howard University Cancer Center Transdisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic.
Throughout her career, Dr. Horton has been dedicated to enhancing cancer outcome disparities and promoting diversity within clinical trials. With a background spanning over 20 years in oncology, encompassing academia, clinical practice, regulatory medicine at the FDA, and advocacy, she has significantly contributed to the field. She has undertaken various leadership roles at Howard University Hospital, including previously serving as chief of hematology and oncology, director of cancer clinical trials, and associate program director of the hematology/oncology fellowship program. Dr. Horton has authored multiple papers focusing on disparities in cancer outcomes among African American patients. During her tenure at the FDA, she functioned as a medical officer responsible for reviewing clinical trials concerning breast cancer therapies, and she co-founded an oncology diversity working group.
Dr. Horton completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at the Georgetown University Lombardi Cancer Center. She resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, alongside her husband, daughter, and two beloved rescue dogs, Pixie and Mia.

Susan O’Mara, MD is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician, and serves as chair of the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Department of Emergency Medicine. She is also an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University.
Dr. O’Mara received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, and her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her Emergency Medicine residencyat George Washington University Hospital, where she also served as chief resident.

Dr. Reginald L. Robinson, MD, is a board certified cardiologist at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Robinson also serves on the board of Medstar Cardiology Associates, and is part of the Quality Committee, interviewing committee, physician lead for the Irving street vascular lab and facility medical director there for the practice. In addition, he holds a position on the Greater Washington region board of the American Heart Association, where he was previously president. He is the current board president of the Eastern States Board of the American Heart Association which covers 30 local boards from Virginia to Maine including West Virginia. Taison Bell, MD, MBA, is an associate professor of medicine in the divisions of infectious diseases and international health and pulmonary and critical care medicine at UVA. He is also the vice chair for faculty affairs in the department of medicine and director of the UVA Summer Medical Leadership Program.
Dr. Bell’s interests include improving inpatient healthcare delivery through quality improvement initiatives and increasing workforce diversity. David Malebranche, MD, MPH, currently serves as Senior Director, Global HIV Medical Affairs at Gilead Sciences. Griggs, M.D., affectionately known as “Doc Griggs,” is a New Orleans-based Community Medicine Doctor and Health Educator who has dedicated his career to advancing health and wellness awareness locally, nationally, and internationally. Currently a professor at LSU School of Medicine and Xavier University College of Pharmacy, he previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Griggs also holds the role of Associate Director of Community Health Affairs at Access Health Louisiana, a Federally Qualified Health Center, and is the Chief Health Officer of the Global Institute of Integrated Health in the UK.
As the founder and Executive Director of the Doc Griggs Foundation, he leads a community-driven, student-activated, and professionally mentored organization that promotes health empowerment with the motto, “Get Checked. Get Fit. Get Moving!®” Dr. Griggs is actively involved with the 100 Black Men of America, where he serves as the Vice Chair of the World Health and Wellness Committee and is the Health and Wellness Chair for 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans.
“Doc Griggs” has an extensive media presence, appearing as a Health Educator on WVUE FOX 8, the Gray Media station in New Orleans, and reaching audiences worldwide through television, workshops, social media, and radio. His popular radio show, co-hosted with Dr. MarkAlain Dery, has contributed to his broad reach and influence, recently honored by being archived by the Library of Congress. His international work spans Cuba, the Turks and Caicos, the UK, and France (Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine and Paris).
In recognition of his community impact, Dr. Griggs was named the Health and Wellness Ambassador for both the State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans in 2014. He continues to drive public health initiatives through innovative projects such as the Million Steps Club and his leadership role in the “Risk Less. Do More” campaign, in collaboration with the 100 Black Men of America and Access Health Louisiana.
